Sharp Cheddar
A cheesy little dice game
How to play:
Before game play begins, select a Cheese Wedge Rule (below).
The first player chooses anywhere from one to six of the dice to roll.
Once the dice hit the table, all players race to count the number of pips (or holes) that are face up on the dice. If the cheese wedge is rolled the special rule is activated instead. (see Cheese Wedge Rules below)
The first person to correctly call out the number of pips claims the dice bag, including all six dice, and becomes the Roller.
The first player to claim the dice three times in a row (and at least one roll must contain the cheese wedge) wins the game.
Cheese Wedge Rules:
When the Roller throws out the cheese wedge along with at least one die, the Roller must attempt to count up the pips while the rest of the players follow the group’s Cheese Wedge Rule of choice for that game.
Categories: Players may call out a type of cheese (cheddar, gouda, swiss) and grab the cheese wedge piece before the Roller adds up the pips to re-claim the dice. Once a cheese has been named it cannot be used again this game.
Codename: At the beginning of the game, all players choose a type of cheese as their "codename". If the wedge is rolled the players must call out the Roller's codename before the Roller counts the pips to claim the dice.
Piece not Pip: Players must count the number of dice rolled instead of the number of pips showing before the Roller calls out the number of pips.
Feel free to make up your own cheesy rules as a group and comment your variations below or share them on our social media, so everyone can have a gouda time!
